Hakeem Olajuwon still has it. Never lost it. Will forever keep The Dream alive.

During Saturday’s NBA Africa Game 2015, Hakeem The Dream checked into the contest and proceeded to take the kids to school. Showcasing the moves that baffled players for 18 seasons, Olajuwon faced up on the block and jab-stepped right before quickly spinning left into the lane. From there it was a squared-up jumper from the center of the paint and a shooters roll. Poor Nikola Vucevic never stood a chance against the Dream Shake.

Let’s see that from another angle.

I feel pretty comfortable making a blanket statement with this little tape (after all, isn’t that’s what the Internet is for: shooting from the hip with little-to-no due diligence), and it’s that Hakeem could unquestionably come off the bench for 1/3 of the teams in the league. Give him 5-8 minutes per game, post him up on the blocks against second units and watch the buckets roll in. Hell, make him a playoff mercenary each year.

As for the game itself, the first ever NBA contest held on the African continent, Team World would overcome a second-half deficit to narrowly defeat Team Africa 101-97. Nothing like NBA exhibition games on a sleepy August Saturday, amiright?
