The Sacramento Kings will wear baby blue throwback jerseys on 10 occasions in 2015, honoring the franchise’s 30 years in the city.

After nearly three decades of calling Sleep Train Arena their home, the Sacramento Kings are playing their final season in the aging venue.

As the franchise prepares to make the transition into the brand new Golden 1 Center, they are bringing back memories of a monumental season in Kings history. The team will wear baby blue throwback jerseys on 10 occasions this year, in remembrance of the 1985-86 season.

While the Kings were not wildly successful that season, going 37-45 and being bounced in the first round of the playoffs, it was still a very important year for both the city and the organization. The 1985-86 season marked the franchise’s first year in Sacramento after relocating from Kansas City.

After constant rumors of a potential relocation to Seattle were finally put to rest in 2013, bringing back the jerseys from that historic season is a nice tribute to the city they call home.

"Today, the Sacramento Kings announced the return of the uniforms worn by the team from 1985-1990, including during the inaugural season in Sacramento. Kings players will rock the infamous “baby blues” during all nine #FlashbackFriday home games this season. The Kings will also wear the retro jerseys for the final home game of the regular season, the last ever to be played in Sleep Train Arena.“The 1985-86 NBA season is one of the most memorable in Kings history,” said Kings President Chris Granger. “Bringing back the ‘baby blues’ enables the best and loudest fans in the NBA to celebrate memories of our storied franchise history. We look forward to honoring our proud past as we look forward to our proud future at Golden 1 Center in downtown Sacramento.”"

The baby blue throwbacks not only commemorate the team’s 30th anniversary in Sacramento, but they are some of the best looking retro jerseys in the NBA as well.

The Kings will wear them for their nine ‘Flashback Friday’ themed nights, as well as the final home game of the regular season. The uniforms will be worn for the following 10 games:

Oct. 30 vs. Los Angeles Lakers

Nov. 6 vs. Houston Rockets

Nov. 13 vs. Brooklyn Nets

Nov. 27 vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

Feb. 19 vs. Denver Nuggets

Feb. 26 vs. Los Angeles Clippers

Mar. 11 vs. Orlando Magic

Mar. 25 vs. Phoenix Suns

Apr. 1 vs. Miami Heat

Apr. 9 vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

Fans can purchase their baby blue Sacramento Kings throwback apparel at the team store. Retro jerseys for Kings legends Mike Bibby, Reggie Theus and Peja Stojakovich are available, in addition to that of All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins.
