Report: Packers’ Jordy Nelson suffers ACL tear vs Steelers
By Jack Crosby
The Green Bay Packers may have lost their best wide receiver on Sunday with Jordy Nelson apparently going down with an ACL tear
Sunday afternoon the Green Bay Packers are taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers in NLF Preseason action, and they may be getting some news soon that they didn’t want to hear in regards to wide receiver Jordy Nelson.
Nelson, one of the best receiving threats in all of the NFL, went down in the first half of this one with a non-contact injury. Right off the bat you could see that he tweaked his knee. Whenever a non-contact injury occurs, you tend to fear the worst. Well, Ian Rapoport is now reporting that this is the worst-case scenario, as Nelson may have torn his ACL.
This is brutal news for one of the best offenses in all of the NFL and a team overall that is once again expected to compete for a Super Bowl appearance.
Nelson is coming off the best season of his career in 2014 and he is entering a new contract with the team, as they came to terms this off-season. Last season in their run towards the NFC Championship Game, Nelson caught 98 balls for 1,519 yards with 13 touchdowns. Easily, he’s Aaron Rodgers’ most reliable target and has been for the past few seasons.
When more becomes available about the injury to Nelson, we will keep you updated.
