The Texas Rangers have been one of the hottest teams in baseball since the All-Star break. Here are five reasons they can win it all in 2015.

What does it take to make a team a World Series contender?

Having an ace to that can be counted on to take over a game is a necessity. Teams that make the postseason are often loaded with talented hitters, but a dominant starting pitcher can render even the best hitters in the MLB useless.

Reliability at the plate is a must as well. When a five or seven game series determines whether or not you advance or go home, inconsistency in the batter’s box is essentially a death sentence.

And star power is important as well.

But often overlooked is the value of scrappy teams; the teams that do not excel in the flashy aspects of the game, but somehow find a way to win.

The Texas Rangers fit this mold perfectly, and they are a legitimate World Series contender because of it.

Their season appeared over after the first month of the season, and even more so at the All-Star break. But they fought back. They went from a team that had the 11th best record in the American League just over a month ago, to a team that holds a one-game lead in the battle for the final wild card spot.

The Rangers have star power, reliable hitters and an ace on their pitching staff as well, but that is not their greatest strength. Their strength lies in finding ways to win, even when they are outmatched by their opponent.

When all these factors come together, the Rangers are arguably the most dangerous team in baseball.

Here are five reasons why they can win the World Series in 2015.
