LSU star running back Leonard Fournette stormed to the front of the Heisman race by bulldozing Auburn’s defense.

We are still months away from the Heisman Trophy being handed out and there is still a strong contingency out there that is heavily favoring TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin. But after Saturday, we may have to re-evaluate all of that, as LSU stud Leonard Fournette just made a serious case in just his second game of the season.

Without their top defender, Auburn had a tall order to stop Fournette and they came nowhere near close to that. Fournette tore up the Tigers defense and gave the crowd in Baton Rouge a real show in what is by far one of the best performances of the college season so far.

Right off the bat, Fournette gashed the Auburn defense in a precursor to the bloodbath that would ensue throughout the afternoon.

When he’s not tearing off 71-yard runs, he’s trucking the living hell out of defenders who are trying to take him down.

At one point, Fournette seriously made it look like he’s impossible tackle.

Here’s a closer look at that utter emasculation of another human being.

His day came to an early end though, as after rushing for 19 carries and 228 yards, Fournette banged up his knee on his third touchdown carry of the game.

It was the right move to yank Fournette from the game as he was just sticking stats at that point and risking injury was something that wasn’t worth it for the Tigers. LSU has a superstar Heisman contender on their hands, and not wearing him out in the second game of the season is a wise decision by Les Miles.
