The Tennessee Volunteers choked and once again snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, allowing the Florida Gators to come back in the last two minutes and win.

The Tennessee Volunteers were coming off of a disappointing loss to Oklahoma last week during which the Vols experienced a complete collapse in the fourth quarter to allow the Sooners to tie up the game, and then subsequently win in double overtime.

This week was eerily and unfortunately similar for the Volunteers. With a 20-14 lead going in to the fourth quarter, Tennessee needed to hold on to defeat their perennial SEC rival. Instead, they gave up 14 points to the Gators, including a 63-yard touch down with only 1:26 left in the game.

Despite two attempts at a 55-yard field goal with three seconds left in the game, the Volunteers could not manage to get more points on the board after the Gators clutch play.

Three stars

1. Florida Gators freshman Antonio Callaway had the play of the game on Saturday with his 63-yard touchdown reception with less than 1:30 left to play in the fourth quarter, an unbelievable turn of events that gave the Gators a 28-27 lead over the Volunteers. This was a breakout game for the freshman from Miami. Last week he had only 34 yards receiving, but that was off of one catch. Clearly the Gators had a sign they could count on him for a clutch play in Saturday’s game. Callaway delivered.

2. Gators quarterback Will Grier was also a star of the game. While he is not one of the most talented quarterbacks in the SEC, he held up under pressure and made a huge play when it counted most. As much as the Volunteers fell apart, Grier kept it together, cool under pressure in the Florida heat.

3. Gators running back Kelvin Taylor also had a phenomenal game with 19 carries for 102 yards and two touchdowns.

Highlights

The biggest play of the game was Callaway’s fourth quarter, nearly last-minute touchdown.

Tennessee has some talent on their squad, but they can’t quite seem to leverage that for a victory when it matters.

"This spin move was a thing of beauty. Here’s a HUGE run for @Vol_Football in the @BestBuy highlight. http://t.co/lf2fCCpwI5— SEConCBS (@SEConCBS) September 26, 2015"

Odds

Tennessee was favored by 1.5 but lost.

Next Week

Tennessee is facing off against Arkansas at home next week in what is a very critical game for the team that is quickly earning a reputation for its inability to win.

Florida plays Ole Miss next week, also at home. Undefeated, they have some excellent momentum going into this game and their battle against Missouri on October 10.
