The Cleveland Cavaliers have yet to sign Tristan Thompson to a new deal, and LeBron is now calling it a distraction.

This summer, the Cleveland Cavaliers spent almost half a billion dollars to bring players like LeBron James and Kevin Love back for this upcoming season and to add pieces like Richard Jefferson and Mo Williams. But one player they didn’t bring back was Tristan Thompson, who has now failed to not only sign a long term deal but missed the qualifying offer deadline at the start of the month.

LeBron James has remained quiet on the matter, but now that we’re less than a few weeks away from the start of the season, he’s starting to get loud. It’s classic passive-aggressiveness from LeBron but it’s something that could get thing moving in Cleveland.

Here’s the Instagram post that set the world on fire Sunday morning:

LeBron dug deeper on the meaning behind the Instagram post and noted that it was meant to communicate that the whole contract dispute is beginning to be a distraction.

This is the last thing the Cavaliers need entering the season. It’s one thing for LeBron to be annoyed that a deal isn’t done yet but it’s another thing for him to deem it a distraction. That’s a flare that the Cavs front office needs to recognize and it should get a deal done with Thompson sooner rather than later one way or the other.
