Results and highlights from The Mechanics vs Finn Balor and Samoa Joe

In the first semifinal match of the evening for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, it was Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder—the underdogs of the tournament to this point—taking on NXT Champion Finn Balor and Samoa Joe.

Joe started the match hot, absolutely lighting up Wilder with strikes in the corner. Wilder was able to turn the tide with some help from Dawson, though, and The Mechanics started going to work. Joe was able to get free eventually by showing off his big-man agility:

Joe then got Balor in for the hot tag and the champ was on fire:

He stayed on top until he took a shot to the left knee and Wilder and Dawson began a vicious attack on the knee of Finn. Between strikes, submissions, and using the ring post as a weapon on Balor’s knee, the champ was left in a bad way. He was finally able to catch a break when he sent Dawson to the outside.

With Dawson on the floor, Balor went to tag Joe, but Wilder pulled Joe off the apron and The Mechanics then hit their finisher on the champ:

However, Balor wouldn’t be kept down for the three-count and eventually tagged in a fired up Samoa Joe:

After wrecking their opponents, Joe and Balor were able to hit their Musclebuster-Coup de Grace combo finisher on Wilder and pick up the win to advance to the finals of the Dusty Classic:
