Former NBA point guard Chris Duhon was arrested and charged with an aggravated DUI Monday morning.

Marshall University’s men’s basketball assistant coach and former point guard to the Los Angeles Lakers Chris Duhon was booked into the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville, Virginia on charges of aggravated DUI. According to the Herald-Dispatch, who first broke the story earlier Monday morning, Duhon was suspended by Marshall University with news that he was released from jail on a $1,000 bond. Although there were no other details surrounding the details of his arrest, records do show that he was released in the early hours of the morning around 4:15 a.m. ET.

It should be noted that aggravated DUI is when a someone is found committing another offense in addition to driving under the influence. Usually this involves either someone else getting injured (or possibly killed) or significant property damage.

Back in April , 2014 Duhon was hired as an assistant coach by Marshall University serving directly under first year coach Dan D’Antoni. D’Antoni had previous experience coaching Duhon himself as an assistant when Duhon played for the New York Nicks and Las Angeles Lakers.

Prior to the start of his coaching career, Duhon had a nine year-stint in the NBA that saw him being selected as the 38th pick in the NBA Draft with the Chicago Bulls back in 2004 where he played a key role in the Bulls winning their first playoff series since Micheal Jordan’s era.

After the Bulls, Duhon moved onto the New York Knicks for two years where he set a single-game record of 22 assists in one game, a New York Knicks franchise record. From there, Duhon joined the Orlando Magics on a 4-year deal worth $15 million but was traded to the Lakers two years in.

Despite this unfortunate incident, Chris Duhon seemed to be a standup athlete and role model in the prime of his career. Three years into his NBA career with Hurricane Katrina causing significant damage to his hometown Slidell, Louisiana, Chris Duhon single-handily revived the ailing Stand Tall Foundation and renamed it the Chris Duhon Stand Tall Foundation which saw close to $500 million in relief supplies donated. As late as 2014, Duhon’s foundation continued to hand out scholarships among other goodwill projects.
