The Philadelphia Eagles wasted no time in firing Chip Kelly a week before the season ended.

While we are still a week away from Black Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles are getting a head start on the house cleaning. On Tuesday night, the team announced that it had fired head coach Chip Kelly after just three seasons in the job.

This comes as little surprise to those who were paying attention to the situation in Philly, as Kelly only made the postseason once in his three years and was more of a headline grabber for the wrong reasons. He cleaned out basically all of the Eagles talented players and brought in pieces he claimed would work.

They didn’t, and now Kelly is out of a job.

The next question now is who will the Eagles get to replace Kelly. He basically took a franchise that was sort of on the rise and burned it to the ground in his image. That’s fitting now, but at the same time it almost gives whoever comes in a clean slate to do whatever they want.

There’s not much to salvage in Philly right now, but it’s a job that will no doubt attract some interesting names. There’s also the matter of where Kelly will coach next, as he will probably be headed back to college rather than elsewhere in the NFL.
