Tom Herman won The American and the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl his first season as head coach. Here are five reasons that Texas should hire him immediately.

Tom Herman is one of the hottest, young head coaches in college football. He was offensive coordinator for the 2014 College Football Playoff National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes before becoming the head coach of the Houston Cougars in the American Athletic Conference in 2015.

In his first year at Houston, Herman’s Cougars not only won The American, but won the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl over the Florida State Seminoles as the Group of 5 representative in the New Year’s Six bowl game. Houston finished 2015 13-1 (7-1).

While all is well in Houston, the flagship university of the state’s football program, the Texas Longhorns, aren’t playing in a bowl game this holiday season. In two years under head coach Charlie Strong, Texas has gone 11-14 (9-9) since Strong replaced Austin legend Mack Brown as head coach.

With the Longhorns being the biggest brand in college football and several schools in the state are outplaying them on the gridiron and out-recruiting them in the football-rich state of Texas, would Texas consider breaking the bank to pry Herman away from Houston early in 2016? Here are five reasons why Texas should consider hiring Herman immediately.
