Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the subject of a huge £44.6 million bid from Arsenal.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is one of the hottest strikers in world football right now. Playing as the spearhead in Borussia Dortmund’s 4-3-3 system, he has been simply unstoppable in the Bundesliga, scoring a ridiculous 27 goals in all competitions this season already. Now, it looks as though Arsene Wenger covets the talents of the Gabon international and is prepared to pay big money to bring him to the Emirates.

Spanish journalist Kike Marin was the first to break the story. This is the same man that broke the Alexis Sanchez transfer in 2014 and is a reliable source. Whether Wenger can pull of such a deal remains to be seen. However, he is known to be a long time admirer of the striker, and his quality would undoubtedly reinvigorate an injury ravaged squad.

Arsenal are looking towards their first Premier League trophy since 2004, and currently sitting top of the table, have a great opportunity to do so. Unfortunately, injuries look as though they may derail the title challenge of the Gunners. Wenger is managing a squad that is beginning to look weary and tired. However, a huge deal like this could well be the key to bringing the title back to North London.

Wenger is notoriously quiet in January. However, he has said that he intends to be busy during this Winter transfer window, and there wouldn’t be a move that qualifies such a statement more than Aubameyang. It would be a terrific signing if Arsenal could pull it off, and could well see them win the title come May.
