Cristiano Ronaldo: MLS ‘maybe going to be possible’

Cristiano Ronaldo told GQ magazine that there is a good chance he will end up playing in the United States one day.

Few players on the globe are more recognizable than Real Madrid star, Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese winger has become a household name around the planet, and can do things with a soccer ball that most can only dream of.

The 30-year-old still has plenty left in the tank, as his 14 goals and seven assists this season proves, but he is already starting to think about the future. He has already had an illustrious career, winning the UEFA Champions League with both Manchester United and Real Madrid. Along with a plethora of club success, Ronaldo has also won the Ballon d’Or three times and has been named World Soccer Player of the Year on three separate occasions as well.

In a recent interview with GQ Magazine, Ronaldo admitted that Major League Soccer has come along way in recent years and that it is possible he ends up playing in the United States one day.

"“Maybe in the future will be a good chance for me to play there [in America],” he told GQ, via Goal. “You never know, but it’s something interesting. I consider it, of course, because as I’ve said, soccer there has become better and better. … I think that this is maybe going to be possible.”"

If the Portuguese star does make his way to MLS, it likely won’t be for a few more years. Chances are he will want to remain playing at the highest level possible for as long as he can. Earlier reports had suggested he may decide to make the move following the 2018 World Cup, but at the moment it remains purely speculation.

Ronaldo will be in action on Sunday morning when his current club, Real Madrid, host Sporting de Gijon at the Santiago Bernabeu at 10 a.m. ET. Los Blancos currently sit in third place in the La Liga table, with 40 points from 19 matches.
