NFL Rumors: Sam Bradford asked for $25 million a year from Eagles
Quarterback Sam Bradford reportedly asked for $25,000,000 a year from the Philadelphia Eagles when the two sides discussed an extension
The Philadelphia Eagles are open to signing quarterback Sam Bradford long-term. However, when the two sides discussed an extension, Bradford apparently asked for a salary that the Eagles were just not willing to give him.
“One of the reasons Chip didn’t try and extend Sam right away, I’m told, is Tom Condon, Bradford’s agent, came in asking for $25 million a year,” Trotter said, via CBS Sports. “Well, that’s not going to fly in Philadelphia. Now the question becomes what is Sam going to want going forward?”
It is not known precisely when Sam Bradford asked for a $25,000,000 salary. However, it is not likely that the Eagles would be willing to pay Bradford that. He has always had a lot of trouble staying on the field and staying healthy in his career. Even when he was healthy with Philadelphia, he wasn’t a great fit in the offense. He threw for 3,725 yards with 19 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 14 games for the Eagles in 2015.
The Eagles traded for Bradford during the offseason in a deal that saw Nick Foles, a fourth round pick, and a 2016 second round pick head to the Rams for Bradford and a fifth round pick. It was a trade that didn’t work out for either side, as neither one really got the quarterback that they wanted.
Bradford is about to become a free agent for the first time in his career after being drafted by the Rams with the first overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.
