Shaq says he was paid to play for LSU

Shaq told a reporter that LSU paid him very well during his time there 

Shaquille O’Neal had a very successful college career at Louisiana State University even if it lasted just three seasons. He was a two-time All-SEC player and two-time All American. He also won the Adolph Rupp Trophy as NCAA men’s basketball player of the year in 1991 during his sophomore season with the LSU Tigers. Shaq has remained active as an LSU alum. However, he might have gotten paid during his time at LSU.

It remains to be seen if the NCAA will (or even if they can) do anything about this. Most violations like these have some sort of statute of limitations. However, O’Neal’s violation could cause the NCAA to further investigate LSU to see if they can find any proof of violations whose statutes of limitations have not yet expired. This could mean trouble for LSU.

Shaq was recently named to the Basketball Hall of Fame. During his NBA career, he averaged 23.7 points per game. He also averaged 10.9 rebounds per game and 2.3 blocks per game. With LSU, he averaged 21.6 points per game and 13.5 rebounds per game. He averaged 27.6 points per game when he won the Adolph Rupp Trophy.
