Lakers Trade Rumors: D’Angelo Russell available on the block?
By Josh Hill
The Los Angeles Lakers aren’t interested in winning anytime soon, and have reportedly made D’Angelo Russell available via trade.
We are just a few weeks away from the NBA trade deadline, and already there is craziness that needs to be addressed. This is the ripe time of the year where just about every name is being tossed into the rumor mill to see where it will spin out. It’s hard to take everything — or anything — you hear seriously, but that doesn’t mean the rumors coming out aren’t in some way legit.
That’s why Lakers fans are a little perplexed, as rookie D’Angelo Russell has reportedly been made available in trade talks.
According to NBA scribe Brian Geltzeiler, while nothing totally official has been sent out by the Lakers to other teams in the league, it sounds like the rookie guard can be had. The question is, at what price.
This doesn’t mean that the Lakers are going to trade Russell, as they might simply be putting feelers out to see if anyone will bite and give them an offer they can’t refuse. That being said, the fact that he’s not an untouchable cornerstone of the future is a little notable here E.en if he’s not being actively shopped ahead of the deadline, this isn’t something that can make Lakers fans confident he’s going to be in the long term plans.
Nothing seems to be imminent on the trade front with Russell, but just the fact that his name is even remotely out there is something to keep an eye on.
