The Ole Miss Rebels put together another phenomenal recruiting class under head coach Hugh Freeze, finishing in the top five on National Signing Day 2016.

The Ole Miss Rebels had some work to do with their 2016 recruiting class. Their No. 1 recruiting class of 2013 had its three best players in defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche, wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, and offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, all former five-stars declare a year early for the 2016 NFL Draft.

Head coach Hugh Freeze did it before and he did it again by putting together another fantastic recruiting class in 2016. His Rebels finished with the No. 5 recruiting class in the country, according to Scout.com, with 24 signees, two five-stars, seven inside of Scout’s Top 100, 15 four-stars, and seven three-stars, all agreeing to play college football for the Rebels in Oxford, Mississippi.

Headlining Freeze’s impressive 2016 recruiting class are a pair of five-stars in offensive tackle Greg Little and quarterback Shea Patterson. Little projects as the next Tunsil-type of left tackle for the Rebels. Patterson, along with Georgia signee Jacob Eason, are considered the two best quarterback prospects in the country. He’ll likely get an opportunity to start in 2017 once quarterback Chad Kelly graduates.

Ole Miss finished with the No. 3 class in the SEC behind only No. 1 Alabama and No. 4 LSU. If Ole Miss views itself as a team capable of playing for a College Football Playoff National Championship, the Rebels will have to continue to keep pace with division rivals like the Crimson Tide and the Tigers.
