Dez Bryant went to Twitter in an effort to try to bring back former teammate running back DeMarco Murray back to the Dallas Cowboys.

Dez Bryant is an electrifying wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, but even he knows he can’t do it alone to get the Cowboys back into the NFC playoffs to play for a Super Bowl. The Dallas wideout went to Twitter and asked for former teammate Philadelphia Eagles running back DeMarco Murray to come back home.

Bryant included in that Tweet both starting quarterback Tony Romo and starting tight end Jason Witten’s account and also hashtagged Cowboys.

The problem is that Murray is under contract with the Eagles organization, as he signed a five-year deal worth $40 million, $21 million guaranteed during last free agency period. Murray was coming off his best season as a professional, leading the NFL in rushing yards and garnering an All-Pro selection.

Murray went to rival Philadelphia to play for then head coach Chip Kelly in his up-tempo offense and play alongside former college roommate in quarterback Sam Bradford with the Eagles. Kelly didn’t make it through the 2015 NFL season, as he was fired by owner Jeffery Lurie. Murray rarely saw the gridiron in Kelly’s offense and was largely disappointed by his first year with the Eagles.

Bryant’s Cowboys didn’t fare too well either once Romo broke his collarbone (twice) in 2015. Dallas went from winning the NFC East in 2014 with a 13-3 record to finishing with the worst record in the NFC in 2015, a full nine games worse with a 4-12 mark, good enough for the No. 4 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Could Dallas strike up a deal with rival Philadelphia to bring Murray back home? Unlikely, as he still has four years left on his deal with the Eagles. As much as Bryant may want Murray to come back home and play for the Cowboys, he has to realize this is a business and Murray’s contract with the Eagles is largely unmovable.
