Kevin Hart was coaching Team USA in the 2016 NBA All-Star Celebrity game, but left the sideline and returned ready to suit up and play

After playing in every NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in recent memory, comedian Kevin Hart hung up his jersey for a clipboard in the 2016 contest as the head coach of Team USA. Or at least that’s what it seemed like was happening until the start of the second half.

With Team USA trailing Team Canada, Hart simply bolted off of his team’s sideline and went back to the locker room with no explanation at all:

Everyone in the arena and watching at home was wondering what was actually going on and if Hart was abandoning his team. What he was actually doing, though, was going back to essentially un-retire, dusting off his Nikes and his jersey and returning to the action on the floor as the four-time Celebrity Game MVP that he is:

The fact that he came back out to ‘Gonna Fly Now’ only adds to the absurdity and greatness of this moment. When he left the sideline, it was pretty predictable what the comedian had planned. However, that doesn’t mean that it didn’t add entertainment to the contest to kick off the action at NBA All-Star Weekend. Now it’s time to get Team USA a win and potentially for Kevin Hart to get his fifth MVP award for the Celebrity Game.
