Hockey ref gets sniped in nuts by a beer can (Video)
A QMJHL hockey ref was hit in the nuts by a beer can thrown by a player’s brother
Being a hockey ref is a fairly dangerous occupation. You have to be able to skate quite fast and no matter how well or poorly a team does, if they lose, you’re likely going to be the scapegoat by a bunch of mad people. Refs also have to dodge projectiles such as pucks and sticks. Dodging beer cans throw by the brother of a player that you just sent to the penalty box should be added to the job description after a QMJHL ref was sniped in the nuts.
This is the sort of thing where you have to hear both sides of the story. Francis Perron (captain of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and seventh round pick of the Ottawa Senators in the 2014 draft) was handed a roughing minor late in the second period of a recent game. Francis’s brother Alexandre took offense to that call by hockey ref Dominick Bedard and decided to express his feelings about the call by doing what any logical hockey crazed nut would do: he nailed the ref in the balls with a beer can.
Alexandre was arrested shortly thereafter and could be facing assault charges. Bedard wound up being alright and he finished the game. What they say about hockey players being so tough must apply to hockey refs as well.
