Report: Butch Jones told Drae Bowles he ‘betrayed team’ for helping rape victims
By Josh Hill
Tennessee Vols head coach Butch Jones is in hot water after he allegedly called his player a traitor for helping rape victims.
Things at Tennessee keep getting worse. The school is embroiled in a sexual abuse scandal that has roped in the likes of Peyton Manning and things that he did or didn’t do 20 years ago. But the most pressing problem for the school is the ongoing rape investigation after two football players allegedly assaulted women on campus. What makes this an even more complicated situation is the fact that a fellow football player is on the other side of things.
Vols wide receiver Drae Bowles helped the two rape victims after they were attacked, and is now being ostracized by his teammates for doing so. Things have reached a new level of horrible as it has been revealed in a lawsuit that head coach Butch Jones is one of the people who called out Bowles for not being a piece of garbage human being.
According to The Tennessean, Butch Jones told Bowles that he ‘betrayed the team’ and was a ‘traitor’ for helping the two women who were allegedly raped by football players.
"University of Tennessee football coach Butch Jones told one of his players he “betrayed the team” after the wide receiver helped a woman who said she was raped by two other football players, according to a new legal filing in a sweeping lawsuit filed by six women against UT."
Just when you think Tennessee can’t look any more awful than they already do — this happens.
If this is true, and Jones called out Bowles for helping rape victims, it might not just be the end of him at Tennessee. This could be it for Jones, who will have the label of rape enabler attached to him for the rest of his life. We thought things were messy before at Tennessee, but this new lawsuit takes things to a whole different level that we haven’t really seen before — and never wanted to see.
