The New England Patriots have agreed to a two year extension with quarterback Tom Brady.

The New England Patriots will be contenders as long as they have quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick. Realizing this, the Patriots have announced that they have agreed to a two year extension that will keep Brady with the Patriots through the 2019 season.

The financial terms have not yet been disclosed, but it’s likely that it will lower his cap hit so that the Patriots can afford to give him some help. They will likely use that cap space to address their offensive line and wide receiver issues. Brady will by no means be taking a pay cut, but it’s noble of him to help his team win games.

From NFL.com:

"The financials behind the extension have yet to be released, but Brady is scheduled to cost $15 million against the cap next season and another $16 million in 2017 under his current deal. Coming off another MVP-level season, his base salary makes him one of the league’s most underpaid signal-callers after signing a five-year, $60 million contract in 2013."

Tom Brady is coming off one of his best seasons as a pro. He threw for 4,770 yards, 36 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 64.4 percent of his passes. Few quarterbacks have had success past the age of 38 years old, but Brady has shown no signs of slowing down yet so expect him to be his usual elite self for the next two seasons.
