Rutgers Scarlet Knights vs Nebraska Cornhuskers

Eddie Jordan would probably like to forget the 2015-16 season even happened, but the Rutgers Scarlet Knights coach has a shot to gain some momentum heading into next year. Finishing the regular season by winning their first conference game, the 7-24 Scarlet Knights finally got the monkey off their back and avoided the dreaded winless distinction.

Getting Corey Sanders back from his suspension definitely helped things for the Scarlet Knights, leading them to their first conference win of the season in the finale. The freshman guard has been a huge bright spot for this team, averaging 16.2 points and 4.3 assists per game. It’s too bad DeShawn Freeman was hurt this season, Rutgers would have been more competitive with him in the lineup.

Just a couple of years ago, the Nebraska Cornhuskers were shocking the Big Ten and making the NCAA Tournament thanks to the dynamic duo of Shavon Shields and Terran Petteway. They were expected to make the Big Dance for the second straight season last year, but they struggled and this season, without Petteway now, has been even worse. Nebraska is just 14-17 and 6-12 in Big Ten play.

Andrew White has tried to replace Pettway the best he could, leading the team with 16.5 points and 6.1 rebounds while shooting over 40 percent from downtown. Sharon Shields had a solid season as well, scoring 16.4 points and grabbing 4.7 boards. Those two were the major contributors with a big drop-off for the third-leading scorer.
