March Madness: Providence and UNC have epic dance-off (Video)

Providence and North Carolina are locked in a tight contest, but a half-time dance battle might be the best moment of March Madness so far.

March Madness may be missing Monmouth, but at least they have the Providence and North Carolina student bands. This game was always going to be one of the best of the Round of 32, and so far, it’s proven to be a tight contest. However, when there was a break in the action, the opposing teams’ bands decided to have a competition of their own. Anyone who left the building during half-time missed a classic dance battle for the ages.

You be the judge of who won here:

"UNC leads Providence by 4, but their bands are tied at a million. #MarchMadness https://t.co/lUYoeXdyU3— NCAA March Madness (@marchmadness) March 20, 2016"

It’s really a shame that only one of these bands will be moving on. Oftentimes, the student sections are the best parts of the college atmosphere, since they have unique traditions or moments you’d never get to see among professional sports crowds. The security has been able to keep a lid on some traditions – we haven’t seen any court stormings – but as long as it’s harmless like this, then it’s all well and good.

If the UNC band was looking to provide a spark, it may have worked. What was a four-point game at the half has now turned into North Carolina outscoring the Friars by 12 and running away with it in the second half.
