Texas A&M completes 12-point comeback in 38 seconds vs Northern Iowa (Video)
Texas A&M forced overtime by closing an 12-point deficit in 38 seconds against Northern Iowa
The Texas A&M Aggies looked like they were going to be the latest higher seed to be upset in March Madness, this one coming at the hands of the Northern Iowa Panthers. They were down by 11 points with just over 30 seconds left in the game and the prevailing thought was that the Aggies were going home. Then the magic of March Madness happened.
After converting a layup to cut the lead to 10 points, Admon Gilder (more from him later) came up with a steal and fed Danuel House for a layup. A Jalen Jones steal into a dunk then cut the lead to six points. Yet another Northern Iowa turnover on the inbounds pass then led to a Danuel House three. The Panthers finally didn’t turn it over and scored on a quick dunk, but Alex Caruso answered with an and-1 to cut the lead to two points.
With neither team having a timeout, Northern Iowa inbounded the ball to Wes Washpun and the Aggies executed a perfect trap that almost force him out of bounds. Washpun tried to throw the ball back in to save the possession, but A&M again came up with the steal and Gilder drove in to hit a tough layup to tie it up:
That forced overtime for the Aggies after Northern Iowa missed a heave at the buzzer, completing one of the most incredible comebacks that you’ll ever see.
The Second Round may be coming to a close, but March Madness is still alive and well.
