A look at the updated 2016 NIT bracket now that the quarterfinals are set

The 2016 NIT Championship has been rolling on amidst the March Madness and, quite frankly, they’ve had their own fair share of upsets that have really shaken up the 2016 NIT bracket. After Monday night, though, the NIT is set to move on as the quarterfinal matchups are now set and things will move on from her.

One of the big stories in the NIT bracket is the fact that there is only one remaining No. 1 seed of the four that entered the tournament in the Valparaiso Crusaders. The Crusaders have rolled to this point, but they’ll certainly be put to the test in the quarterfinals as they take on another team that many people considered to be a snub from the NCAA Tournament in the Saint Mary’s Gaels.

Perhaps the biggest upset of the NIT to this point, though, came on Monday in the final batch of Second Round games, though, as the No. 1 seed Monmouth Hawks—featuring everyone’s favorite bench mob—were bounced by the George Washington Colonials. May that bench and their celebrations live on in the hearts and minds of fans.

Now that the Second Round has concluded and the quarterfinals are set, let’s take a look at the updated 2016 NIT bracket to see where things stand, who is looking like the favorite, and what matchups are on deck.

Obviously the Valparaiso-Saint Mary’s game is going to be huge while the other three matchups all feature a No. 4 seed taking on the No. 2 seed. With how things have gone in the NIT to this point, though, it’s hard to say what’s going to happen next.
