Fans trying to get athlete autographs is nothing new, and fans hoarding to railings to try and get signatures as athletes pass isn’t anything new either. But that doesn’t mean the idea of actually doing these things is technically safe — and we found that out on Wednesday night.

As the Warriors were exiting the court in Utah, a railing supporting fans trying to get Steph Curry’s autographed collapsed and at least one fan was sent tumbling. That fan appears to have been a small child.

It’s scary stuff:

Thankfully, it appears that no one was hurt and it’s worth noting that this could have gone a lot worse. Not only could this kid have been hurt, but Steph Curry could have been hurt if more of the railing had given out and more than just one or two small fans had come pouring out of the stands.

While this likely won’t put a halt to fans trying to get autographs in this manner, it’s a reminder that safety should always come first. Everyone wants an autograph to take home but no one wants to see anyone get hurt in the process. Thankfully this time things turned out alright but we can’t say that this might not be worse the next time around.
