On Saturday night, Sting announced his retirement from WWE. What did the fans have to say about it?
To close the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, Sting was inducted as the headlining member. Ric Flair would do the honors and welcome the Icon into WWE’s most prestigious group.
For weeks and months, there was talk of Sting announcing his retirement. He suffered a bad neck injury during his match against Seth Rollins at WWE Night of Champions 2015 that caused spinal stenosis. His wrestling career was never officially deemed over, but many assumed that it was. Sting was even giving interviews talking about maybe wrestling again in the future.
However, for the fans who were holding out hope, they will be disappointed.
To close Sting’s speech, he announced that under the WWE banner, he would be retiring from wrestling.

Of course, this upset wrestling fans but they also respected his decision. They took to Twitter to express this.
That was rough to hear!

Sting officially retires. I never get to see him in a match against The Undertaker. Why is life so cruel to me?

As you can see, it was almost all positive for Sting’s retirement. He had to worry about his long-term health and given his age, stepping back into a wrestling ring may not have been the best thing to do.
Fans can now honor the career of Sting in WCW, TNA and WWE. He has a legendary legacy that makes him one of the all-time greats that no one will forget.
