Everybody Loves Raymond actress, Doris Roberts, dead at age 90.

Actress Doris Roberts has died. The lovable, yet strong-willed, mother from Everybody Loves Raymond passed away in L.A. on Sunday. She was 90-years-old.

Roberts enjoyed a long career, and was well-known for her multiple TV and movie projects. In addition to playing Marie Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond, which she won four of her five Emmy awards for, Doris starred in other popular movies such as National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and Grandma’s Boy.

Doris Roberts is survived by her son, Michael Cannata Jr., whom she had with her first husband. Roberts’ second husband, William Goyen, passed away in 1983.

Doris’ former Everybody Loves Raymond co-star, Patricia Heaton, who played her daughter-in-law, Debra, took to her Twitter account to reveal her sadness over the passing of her former co-star.

"“Truly the end of an era. My wonderful TV mother-in-law, and ELR nemesis, Doris Roberts, was a consummate professional, from whom I learned so much. She was funny and tough and loved life, living it to the fullest. Nothing gave her greater joy than her three wonderful grandchildren, of whom she was so proud. It truly was a privilege Doris. I love you and miss you.”"

Doris and Patricia had an on-screen connection that the fans loved, and it showed not only on Raymond, but when Roberts guest starred on Heaton’s current show, The Middle, as the teacher of her youngest child, a teacher who didn’t have a high opinion of Patricia’s character. The banter between the two will be missed by fans.

The two women were fun to watch together, and Doris Roberts’ death will surely impact not only Patricia, but many others in Hollywood, who had the good fortune of working with the funny and talented actress.

No funeral details have been released as of yet.
