Disgruntled Tigers’ outfielder Tyler Collins was caught on camera flipping the bird at Detroit fans after committing an error
Tyler Collins is having a rough go of things to start the season for the Detroit Tigers. As a spot starter in the outfield, Collins is hitting a measly .105 with just one RBI to start the year, not exactly earning himself a permanent spot on the team.
Not only is his offense mediocre, he flashed some poor defense on Monday night in the series opener against the Oakland Athletics, losing a pop up in the lights, allowing it to drop and the batter got all the way to third base — eventually becoming Jordan Zimmerman’s first run of the season.
Fans, giving him a hard time for the poor effort, let him hear it, filling the air with boos and Collins clearly took exception to it, flipping the bird on camera.
Warning: This video contains an inappropriate hand gesture as well as clearly mouthed ‘F’ bombs.
As you can tell, his frustrations at the plate have boiled over to the field and now he’s taking it out on his own fans. Collins has been trying to make the major league roster for good over the past couple of season, but a stunt like this could sent him back to Triple-A Toledo.
It’s clear what Collins was saying, “F— everyone here. F— you all. I don’t care.”
Who knows what the next step will be for the 25-year-old outfielder, but he remained in the game following the incident.
