NFL Rumors: ESPN to fire Ray Lewis and Cris Carter, hire Randy Moss

ESPN is reportedly making even more changes to their NFL coverage, reportedly dropping Ray Lewis and Cris Carter while hiring Randy Moss.

Since the end of the 2015 NFL season, one of the league’s broadcast partners (ESPN) has been making major changes to who will be analyzing games during the 2016 season. According to one report, two more members of the 2015 crew won’t be back this coming season.

According to The Big Lead, the network is ready to part ways with two former NFL stars who have spent the last few seasons together on their Sunday and Monday coverage:

"…The Big Lead has learned that Cris Carter and Ray Lewis are also expected to be on their way out, and that Randy Moss is expected to be on his way in. Moss spent last season at Fox Sports,"

Carter has been a part of the ESPN NFL coverage team since 2008, while Lewis joined the network shortly after retiring from the NFL following the 2012 season (ending his career with a Super Bowl win while a member of the Baltimore Ravens).

So far, ESPN has removed Mike Ditka from both pregame shows (though he will stay with the network in other roles) and have named both Matt Hasselbeck and Charles Woodson as members of the show for the 2016 season. Reportedly, Trent Dilfer is also on his way out the door from ESPN .

The news comes on the same day that ESPN announced that Sean McDonough would be the new play-by-play announcer for their Monday Night Football games. He replaces Mike Tirico, who will be joining NBC Sports in July.
