Here are the five reasons the Los Angeles Lakers deserve to win the 2016 NBA Draft Lottery when it is held next week.

In just one week, the 14 NBA teams who didn’t make the 2016 Playoffs will have a representative on hand when the league reveals the first picks in the 2016 NBA Draft. From New York to Philadelphia and Minnesota to Los Angeles, teams will be waiting to see their logo placed below one of the top picks in June’s draft.

One team that has gotten too comfortably with picking so early in the draft lately has been the Los Angeles Lakers. This season, the 17 time world champions finished the year with the worst record in the history of the franchise and the third straight losing season.

When the draft lottery rolls around, the Lakers are one of the teams in the running for the top overall pick, which will likely be used on former LSU standout Ben Simmons no matter who has the pick. While the Lakers have some pretty stiff competition from other teams who have “earned” the right to pick at or near the top, here are the five reasons why the Los Angeles Lakers should win the 2016 Draft Lottery.
