Clarke finds an ally in King Roan and A.L.I.E knows everything.

Remember last week how it seemed like it was impossible for things to get even worse for our characters? Well, that’s exactly what happened on ‘Perverse Instantiation: Part One’ of the Season 3 Finale. The episode left us with even more unanswered questions and a feeling of hopelessness.

Part one of the finale starts off with Clarke, Bellamy, Octavia, and Jasper at the rover deciding what to do next. Clarke wants to invade Grounder villages demanding them to hand over their nightsblood so she can put the flame in one. Octavia and Bellamy want to head back to Arkadia so they can plan their next move. Jasper is just chilling on the rover not really having any input. After a few minute of arguing Clarke goes for a walk in the woods when A.L.I.E appears behind her and tells a Grounder to take the flame from her. All of sudden a Roan appears, King Roan is able to take him out before hurting Clarke. We find out Roan has been tracking Clarke to get the flame for Ontari. Clarke pulls a gun on him, but he’s able to knock it out of her hands. Real smooth. Fortunately for Clarke, Bellamy is right on hand to stop him and shoots him in the arm to make sure he hasn’t taken the key.

Arriving back at Arkadia with Roan; Raven, Monty, Miller, Bryan, and Harper find out that Luna declined the Commander offer. Clarke and Bellamy tell Roan that the only way to get their people back is through Ontari. They tell Roan that Ontari has taken the key and is under control of A.L.I.E and that they have to remove the chip like they did with Raven before they can give her the flame.

They come up with a plan to to get into Polis, Roan strolls into Polis as our gang takes the city with knockout gas and capture Ontari. This should all go perfectly smooth, right? Sigh. At least they’re trying? Bellamy, Miller, Bryan, Octavia gear up for Polis. Raven tells Clarke she made another armband from parts Jaha broke, but with more improvements and once Clarke radios her, she can launch the kill code.

Raven, Monty, Harper, and Jasper stay behind at Arkadia, but there’s someone else there too. A.L.I.E. Yup, she’s in Arkadia, meaning one of the four is chipped. And since A.L.I.E is there, she has been able to hear everything and tells Ontari and Jaha the plan.

Roan, Clarke, and Bellamy get to outskirts of Polis, but at last minute Roan decides to take the flame with him, but Clarke isn’t leaving the flame’s side. So, now the plan changes and Clakre is Roan’s hostage. Bellamy is a bit hesitant, but nothing can separate Clarke and the flame.

Oh, yeah we have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Back at Arkadia, my money was on Harper being the chipped one until Jasper starts acting a little weird. By weird, I mean more content with everything. Jasper and Monty start looking for a motherboard for Raven to destroy A.L.I.E with and Jasper starts asking a ton of questions about what exactly Raven is doing and digging into his relationship with Harper. A.L.I.E appears and it’s Jasper that has indeed taken the key. She tells him to stop Monty and stabs him with a screwdriver. Thankfully, Monty is able to get away and runs back with motherboard in hand. Monty makes it back to Raven and they close the doors on Jasper. Raven is a little late to the party and realizes Clarke and Co are walking right into a giant City of Light trap. She attempts to radio Clarke, but all lines have been cut.

Roan and a tied-up Clarke enter Polis where blood still stains the streets. Meanwhile, Bellamy, Octavia, Miller, and Bryan are entering Polis through tunnels. There’s a sweet moment here with Miller and Bryan talking about getting a house on a lake, planting corn and growing old. Despite everything going on it’s nice to see them keeping a positive outlook on things. Back to Roan and Clarke, Bellamy sends signal to Clarke that they’re in position. Roan holds up the flame and Jaha comes forward and tells Roan Ontari won’t be meeting him. Jaha also informs us and Clarke “Your friends in the tunnel can’t help you.” Crap. Roan holds a knife to Clarke’s throat saying they need Clarke because she’s the only one that can activate the flame and starts to run, “…but we don’t need you,” Kane says as he shoots Roan and orders him to be put on the cross.

Did I mention how things just keep getting worse? Oh, Bellamy, Octavia, Bryan, and Miller get captured in the tunnels too.

Back at Arkadia, Jasper is trying to convince Monty to open to door and stats name dropping all the people that have died and how they’ve died, mostly “death by Clarke.” Chipped Jasper is a real jackass. We also have Harper who is keeping a lookout throughout camp and oblivious to what’s happening. Raven tells Monty that they have to keep Jasper talking and Harper will be fine. Did anyone else have a nervous laugh in that moment? Monty asks why Jasper took they key and Jasper tells us that it wasn’t because he was tortured, but because of how peaceful the oil rig people were and that they destroyed their community like they did with Mount Weather.

Moving over to Polis where things aren’t getting any better, Clarke is taken to the top of the tower where Abby greets her. A nice hug and a demand for Clarke to give them the phrase to the flame. Clarke says no way and they strap her to a pole for torture. Clarke is begging Abby to get them to stop and she tells Clarke, “I’m not letting them do this, I’m doing it.” Abby breaks out her surgery tools to torture her own daughter. She asks Clarke again or the phrase and Clarke refuses. She also tries to get through to her mother “I know you’re in there,” but Abby continues make slices in her chest. This is really hard scene to watch, Clarke getting tortured by her own mother. Abby realizes that this isn’t the way to break her daughter and tells A.L.I.E Clarke’s weakness is her friends and to start will Bellamy Blake.

Bellamy, Octavia, Miller, and Bryan are tied up in the tunnels and one of the Grounders comes for Bellamy, but thankfully Murphy comes to the rescue, “If I were you I’d hit the deck,” Indra and Pike come out and shoot the Grounders. Murphy is ready to go, but Bellamy isn’t, because Clarke’s in trouble, “Clarke’s always in trouble.” Well, Murphy ain’t wrong. And after this he’s done doing the right thing, can we blame him? Octavia is stunned that Pike is there and Indra is working with him, but Indra tells her they need Pike right now.

Back to Arkadia, Harper comes to the door and what’s to know what they locked her out. NOW IS NOT THE TIME HARPER. Monty asks her if she sees jasper and before she can answer Jasper knocks her out. He holds a gun to the window and tells Raven and Monty they need to destroy to motherboard or Harper will die.

Basically, give up another chance at destroying A.L.I.E or get Harper killed.

Bellamy and Murphy hop on the elevator as Pike, Miller, and Bryan crank the elevator shaft to get them to the top where Clarke is. Indra and Octavia keep lookout when Kane makes a surprise appearance and shoots Bryan and Pike in the arms. Indra tries to stop him, but he can’t feel pain and she finally knocks him out with a kick to the face. With Pike and Bryan hurt the elevator suddenly stops and Grounders are trying open the elevator doors. Murphy shocks them with a taser stick and Bellamy tries to fight them off. Down below, Bryan sets off a detonator and seals the doors leading to elevator room to keep Grounders out and they get it going again. But one of the Grounders was able to get into the elevator and starts choking Murphy, Bellamy is forced to shot him in the head to save Murphy.

Back at the top of the tower, Clarke isn’t giving up. Jaha begins to hang a noose, but it’s not for her. Abby stands on a bucket and puts the rope around her neck. Clarke begins to cry and begs her mother to stop. A.L.I.E thinks this will break Clarke and tells Abby to go through with it. Abby steps off the bucket. A.L.I.E has seriously underestimated Clarke, because she starts to tell her mother she’s sorry over and over again. A.L.I.E knows Murphy and Bellamy are on their way and tells Ontari they can’t have her. Ontari obeys and kneels down and Jaha hits her across the head with a pole just as Murphy and Bellamy arrive. Murphy cuts down Abby and she’s still alive.

The elevator crew prepares to blow up the elevator wheel and climbs the ladder to the top. Kane is still knocked out, but is out of harms way. With just seconds on the clock Kane starts waking up and walking towards the bomb. Indra jumps off the ladder and pushes him out of harms way.

Back at the top, Clarke is preparing to get the chip out of Ontari, so they can put the flame in her, but when Clarke checks her pupils she realizes Ontari is brain dead.

And A.L.I.E continues to win again and everything just sucks. It seems like Clarke and the gang can’t get an one up on A.L.I.E no matter what they do. Seriously, how is A.L.I.E going to be stop, if that’s even possible, because right now it seems like this unbeatable force is going to go into Season 4 of The 100. Who knows, maybe The 100 becomes a show about The City of Light and all the characters are just controlled by A.L.I.E.

How much longer can our characters fight against her? And how will she be defeated because from what we can see there’s just no light at the end of this. If you have any solutions to how this is all going to wrap up in just one more episode, please let me know in the comments.

Will Luna have a change of heart? Plus, the fact that A.L.I.E transported her contents to space, makes things even more impossible for her to be destroyed.

No quick notes this episode just a lot of questions.
