Steven Gerrard could leave Galaxy for coaching job

It appears that current LA Galaxy midfielder Steven Gerrard could be offered a coaching position with his former club.

Former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard looks to be linked to a coaching position with his former club. Reports from the Mirror suggest that Gerrard could re-join his boyhood club in August or September.

The move to England isn’t that surprising considering Gerrard mentioned last fall that he missed being a part of Premier League action and wanted to play with ‘better players.’

But the move back to his homeland isn’t to play, it is more of a management job, as Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to have the club legend part of his backroom staff for next season.

A source told the Mirror that, “Stevie’s plan was always to come back and get into management,” and that he and his wife have moved some close friends to Los Angeles, but that still doesn’t help them feel less homesick.

The report also mentions that Gerrard is looking to build a luxury mansion in Merseyside, fuelling the report that he could actually make the move to his former club.

Gerrard signed an 18-month deal last January with the Galaxy, that saw the club spend $6 million on their third designated player. If the reported move happens, that would actually help the Galaxy, as they don’t have to pay Gerrard and will get a chance to sign another designated player.

If Gerrard can actually make the move back to Liverpool, that would be a great continuation for the former England star. He appeared in over 500 matches for the Reds from 1998-2015 and could be a major help to emerging players like Daniel Sturridge, Divork Origi, Jordan Ibe and could be of help to captain Jordan Henderson with being a leader for the club.
