After his announced inclusion in WWE 2K17, Goldberg is being a bit coy about a potential return to the ring

On the May 30 episode of WWE RAW, the company unveiled the first trailer for WWE 2K17 which included the announcement that video game fans that pre-ordered the game would be able to play as the legendary Goldberg. Goldberg, of course, was one of the biggest successes of the WCW brand before having a brief run in WWE. His last match was in the main event of WrestleMania XX against Brock Lesnar.

With him being included in WWE 2K17, though, there has been plenty of speculation about whether or not this means that Goldberg will be returning to the squared circle to compete. Though he’s said publicly that he’d never work for Vince McMahon again, Sting’s inclusion in WWE 2K15 led to his debut in WWE, so it stands to reason that the same might be true for Goldberg.

As a guest on the ‘Ringer Wrestling Podcast’ with David Shoemaker on Tuesday, Goldberg was asked about potentially returning and he was quite coy with his answers. Though he admitted that he didn’t think it was a possibility when he first signed on to be a part of the video game, he would only say “never say never” about his potential return to the squared circle before continuing to maintain that it wasn’t the reason that he did this.

What’s curious here is the admittance that it wasn’t considered as a possibility previously and is now not committing either way to an answer. If you want to read into it too much, that could look like Goldberg is coming back soon. Or it could just be nothing. I guess everyone will have to just wait and see.
