What is the Siri SDK and why should you care about it.

The WWDC Apple event kicks off this week with a keynote speech that is going to be introducing the world to the software that will be running our lives for the next few years.

But while there was no official reveal of a new line of products, we did get a glimpse at the next step for Apple when it comes to staying relevant in the marketplace. Credit to Apple for pioneering the tablet revolution but they’ve fallen behind as far as taking the next step.

Amazon put out the cloud based Alexa this past year which has brought us closer to AI happening. Apple is answering that with the Siri SDK, which is expanding how and where you can use Siri with third party apps.

The ability to use Siri with other apps and Apple devices already is starting to happen, as we’ve seen the ability to use Siri with Apple TV — a new OS we saw rolled out today as well.

It might not be an Alexa killer, but the Siri SDK is at least showing us that Apple knows that it can’t fall behind a marketplace is helped make so competitive and creative. They’re not thought leaders anymore but Apple has shown an ability to let the marketplace tell them what they like and them modify it in an Apple way.

It appears that’s the case here for the Siri SDK.
