NBA Free agency is just a little over a week away and with the spending frenzy drawing near, players are beginning to opt out of their current deals, so that they can position themselves to make even more money potentially next year.

One player that is going to be a free agent is former Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard. In a move that should surprise no one at all, Howard officially opted out of his current deal with the Rockets to become a free agent, according to Shams Charania.

While some players opt out to sign bigger deals with their current team, this move is far from that. The noted history of issues between Howard and Rockets guard James Harden have long been known and Howard is going elsewhere.

With the rise in the salary cap, it’s likely that he is going to get a much larger deal than the one he received. In today’s NBA, Howard fits the mold of centers that can anchor the paint and swallow up rebounds.

Howard is going to get paid by some team that needs a center and these are the five destinations that would make a ton of sense for him.
