Steve Spurrier may join SEC Network coverage in 2016
College football coaching legend Steve Spurrier is in talks to join SEC Network
Steve Spurrier shocked the college football world when he resigned from his role as head football coach at South Carolina during the middle of the 2015 season.
He held the position since 2005, having previously been an SEC coach with the Florida Gators from 1990-2001.
Spurrier left the game last year, but may be returning soon based on an article from The State, a newspaper in Columbia, South Carolina:
"Steve Spurrier expects to meet with SEC Network officials in the next month, and could be on your television this fall. “We have tentatively discussed getting together to talk,” Spurrier told The State on Monday, “but I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet, but hope to do something constructive and productive. I have seen people who don’t do anything, and that doesn’t work. Hopefully, I will get involved in something here in about a month or so.”"
Spurrier would be a great addition to the SEC Network and would bring a legendary figure back to the game he gave so much to for so long.
He should also still be in the good graces of South Carolina and other SEC fans, as he left the team because he thought it was the best move. He did not quit and take another job, but saw himself as a problem and got out. Some may label him a quitter, but it takes a humble person to make the decision he did.
His words make it sound like he will indeed be joining SEC Network this season, especially the part where he says he hopes to get involved in something soon. Whether it is as a full-time analyst or just a part-time guest, fans should expect to see Spurrier gracing the airwaves this fall.
