Will Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green get kicked off Team USA for the 2016 Olympics after getting arrested for assault?

On Sunday, in East Lansing in his home state of Michigan, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green was reportedly arrested for assault. Very few details have been released to this point. Could this affect his chances of being on Team USA for the 2016 Olympics?

Team USA will likely be very patient and wait for details to develop. The last thing they want to do is make a rash decision or prematurely paint one of America’s greatest basketball players in a bad light.

However, depending on how the investigation goes, if Team USA finds out that Green will likely be found guilty or is at least not going to be completely cleared of wrong doing, they could remove him from the team. It is likely that his court case, if it happens, could easily be delayed until after the Olympics. That this is the first time Green has been involved in this sort of off-court trouble could work in Green’s favor as well.

Green’s situation is definitely one that Team USA will keep a very close eye on. However, it’s likely that Green won’t be removed from Team USA, at least not until the full details of the situation come to light.
