For the 12th year in a row in college football, the winners of the Atlantic and Coastal divisions will play in the ACC Championship Game. When is the 2016 version of the game?

In the previous 11 years of the ACC Championship Game, the game has included a traditional college football power and three well-known universities across the two divisions.

Florida State (five ACC title game appearances) and Clemson (two ACC title game appearances) have dominated the Atlantic Division since 2009, while either Virginia Tech or Georgia Tech has represented the Coastal Division in the game in every year but two (2013 and 2015). Virginia Tech was the last school from the Coastal Division to win the ACC title (2010).

This season’s conference title game will be played at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. for the seventh consecutive year. The game was played in either Jacksonville or Tampa, FL for the first five years of the game and then it was moved to Charlotte in 2010.

The game will be played on Dec. 3 on the ABC family of networks. (The kickoff time has not been established, but it will either be on ESPN at 7:45 p.m. ET or ABC at 8 p.m ET from Charlotte.)

Who projects to be a favorite to win the ACC title? Look no further than the top two teams in the Atlantic Division: Florida State and Clemson. Both schools have combined to win the last five ACC titles and in two of the last three seasons, the representative has gone on to play in the National Championship Game.

Their meeting in Tallahassee, FL on Oct. 29 will probably determine who plays for the ACC title from the Atlantic Division, along with the game having massive national title implications.

Clemson ran the table last season (including a 23-13 win over FSU on Nov. 7) on their way to the College Football Playoff and won the ACC title last December against North Carolina, 45-37.
