Tyrod Taylor, Bills agree to long-term extension

After just becoming a starting quarterback last season with the Buffalo Bills, Tyrod Taylor has cashed out, signing a long-term extension
Before Tyrod Taylor, the Buffalo Bills had suffered through years of poor-to-medicore quarterback play. After a solid 2015 campaign, the Bills have committed to Taylor for the long haul.
According to Ian Rappaport of NFL.com, Taylor has signed a long-term deal with the Bills.
Coming out of Virginia Tech, Taylor backed up Joe Flacco in Baltimore for four years before signing with the Bills last offseason. His deal was for two years, $7 million (with incentives).
Taylor had to beat out veteran Matt Cassel and former first round pick EJ Manuel for the starting job, and did just that. He came into the season as the starter, throwing for 3,035 yards, 20 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also ran 568 yards and five touchdowns.
Buffalo was 8-6 with Taylor under center last season.
He had a bit of a fumbling problem, with nine total. But sometimes that’s what you get with a mobile quarterback like Taylor.
Per the Buffalo News, Taylor could earn over $90 million.
With Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton playing in the Super Bowl, Taylor earned the chance to play in the Pro Bowl.
After this deal, The MMQB’s Albert Breer tweeted a good reminder of Tom Brady’s unselfishness:
This is a good move by Buffalo, locking up a dynamic quarterback who won more than he lost last season.
If the Bills can add more weapons around Taylor, they could finally become a threat in the AFC East.
