The latest WWE SummerSlam rumors put Goldberg in Brooklyn on the weekend of the event, but will he be at the show on Sunday?

WWE SummerSlam 2016 is now officially less than a week away when the company will invade Barclays Center again. SummerSlam is traditionally WWE’s second biggest show of the year, meaning they always pull out the stops. That often means big names returning in some capacity, big matches, and much more. Now it seems like there’s at least the possibility of seeing a superstar that hasn’t been in WWE in over a decade.

According to a report from PW Insider (Elite membership required), Goldberg is going to be in Brooklyn for WWE SummerSlam weekend to promote the WWE 2K17 video game. There’s not much to the report other than that he’s going to be there. However, that does at least increase the likelihood that Goldberg could appear at the WWE SummerSlam show on Sunday, August 21.

As far as will he definitely be on the show, we don’t know the answer to that right now. However, it would make sense with WWE trying to fill out rosters for two show for the company to at least reach out to Goldberg for a return.

Goldberg hasn’t wrestled in WWE since WrestleMania XX all the way back in March 2004. It’s worth noting that he went out in a relatively unceremonious manner. He was booked in the main event of Mania against Brock Lesnar, who was also on his way out of WWE at the time as well. What transpired was one of the biggest debacles in WrestleMania history in terms of main events as the match fell completely flat.

However, WWE has obviously mended ties to some degree to have Goldberg involved in WWE 2K17. As such, a return on Sunday at WWE SummerSlam should at least be something to keep an eye out for.
