Much of fantasy football value has to do with players getting the opportunity to shine. Whether a wide receiver that needs targets and red zone looks or a running back needing catches and carries, smart fantasy football owners are always looking for players who will be in a position to step up. In this post, I’ll be trying to pinpoint 10 running backs who could be breakout RB this season since I think they’ll be faced with an opportunity to produce.

Much of the running back landscape in fantasy football is a battle of attrition. Running backs get hurt throughout the season and workloads are redistributed as a result.  Injuries can be unpredictable, so it’s vital that you have a deep stash of running backs and are always ready to jump into the waiver wire scrum to grab any players whose value suddenly rises.

While many of the breakout RB each season are hard to predict, there are some that are set up for big workloads that could be ready to take the leap to the next level.  Many of these backs are in a situation that has changed from last year, and others are being undervalued for one reason or another.

Yesterday, I took a took at 10 breakout WR who I think are in store for a big season, and today we’ll focus on potential breakout stars from the backfield.  If you’re looking for more fantasy football coverage, head over to the FanSided fantasy football hub where you’ll find fantasy coverage including sleepers, rankings, injury news, and overall strategy tips leading up to your draft. You can also follow @FansidedFantasy on Twitter where I’ll be happy to answer any questions you have, keep you up to date on all our latest coverage, and even help you through any draft-day drama that may come up.

The players highlighted in this Breakout RB post aren’t necessarily big names yet. Some are fringe players who will become regular parts of lineups while others are players who have been on the waiver wire but have a chance to be valuable contributors.

The breakout RB on the following slides are ordered from highest ceiling to deepest sleeper, so let’s get started with a player I think is ready to make the leap and be a top-ten back this year for the first time in his career.
