WWE SummerSlam 2016: What SmackDown matches are on the card?
Looking at what matches from Smackdown will be on the card for WWE SummerSlam 2016 on Sunday, August 21
WWE SummerSlam 2016 holds all of the promise in the world for all of the right reasons. The matches at the top of the card promise to be show-stealers while the rest of card could be great as well. However, SummerSlam also offers an interesting proposition as it stands in the midst of the still-new brand split. As such, there are matches from both brands being featured in the last non-brand specific pay-per-view for a while.
Because of that, though, fans may be trying to remember or discern which matches are from which brands. Considering how fresh the brand extension in WWE is, it can admittedly be hard to recall all of that. So let’s take a little refresher course as to which matches from WWE Smackdown will be on the WWE SummerSlam 2016 card.
Obviously the big main event match from Smackdown will be Dean Ambrose vs Dolph Ziggler. Ambrose is putting the WWE World Championship on the line in a match that should be must-see. Also in the main event—or at least half of it—will be Randy Orton. Orton will be facing RAW’s Brock Lesnar in the lone cross-brand match in Brooklyn.
John Cena and AJ Styles will be facing off in another singles contest, continuing their series of matches. If their previous meetings are any indication, this match could be one of the best at WWE SummerSlam. Also from Smackdown in the mid-card will be The Miz defending the Intercontinental Championship in a match against Apollo Crews.
Additionally, there will also be a six-woman tag team match at SummerSlam from Smackdown. Becky Lynch, Carmella, and Naomi will take on Natalya, Alexa Bliss, and
Eva Marie
a TBD partner. Moreover, there will be a 12-man tag team match on the kickoff show. American Alpha, the Hype Bros, and The Usos will face Breezango, The Ascension, and The Vaudevillains.
With all of this action from Smackdown on the card, the blue-brand will surely shine. However, will they be able to steal the show from RAW in Brooklyn? We’ll see soon enough.
