NFL Rumors: Baltimore Ravens bring back Justin Forsett
The Ravens are reportedly bringing back running back Justin Forsett after releasing him on Saturday.
When the Ravens cut Justin Forsett on Saturday, it took a lot of people by surprise. Forsett has been nothing but productive with the Ravens. Even with the Ravens’ subpar offensive line, he averaged 4.2 yards per carry in 2015 after thriving in his first season as a starter in 2014. With an inexperienced core of running backs, Forsett’s release never made sense. The Ravens had a plan all along. They will reportedly re-sign the veteran running back to a cheaper contract.
Forsett should provide the Ravens with a proven starter who fits in well with the locker room. With Terrance West, Javorious “Buck” Allen, and 2016 fourth round pick Kenneth Dixon, Forsett will serve as a very valuable mentor for the young trio. Forsett is a veteran who has fought for every chance that he has gotten in the NFL. His pathway to stardom in 2014 was rarely a straight one, but he made it thanks to his relentless optimism and hard work.

Forsett set career highs in 2014 with 1,266 rushing yards, eight rushing touchdowns, and 1,529 total yards from scrimmage. He finished third in the NFL with 5.4 rushing yards per carry in 2014. Forsett does a lot of community work around Baltimore, making him a fan favorite.
The Ravens have been quite impressed with Dixon so far. Once Dixon returns from an injury, Forsett’s days as a starter could be over. Even if that is the case, Forsett should be a very valuable player for the Ravens as he helps their young core of running backs grow.
There is perhaps no better person for the Ravens’ young backs to learn from than Forsett. Forsett has lasted eight years in the NFL despite not being as talented as other running backs. He’ll show the young guys what it takes to survive in the NFL.
