Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston is carving up the Atlanta Falcons defense today, and already has four TD passes.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are making easy work of the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1, thanks mostly to the play of their quarterback. Jameis Winston has been carving up the Atlanta defense, and already has four touchdowns through three quarters. Winston is one of the better young gunslingers in the league, and he is showing why in season’s first game.

The Bucs failed to score a touchdown in the first quarter, but the offense has since caught fire. Winston’s first touchdown of the game went to Brandon Myers, capping a nice drive with a four-yard strike. Ten minutes later, Winston hit Charles Sims, this time from 23 yards out.

After halftime, Winston went right back to work, hitting Austin Seferian-Jenkins for a 30-yard touchdown. That score put the Buccaneers up 24-13, but Winston still wasn’t done. With a little over five minutes left in the third, Winston found Mike Evans for his fourth score of the day, and it was a thing of beauty.

The Falcons were not supposed to have a great defense in 2016, and the Bucs have been taking advantage of that. The most impressive thing about Winston is that he distributes the ball so well, as all four of his touchdowns have gone to different players. He has hit a running back, tight ends, and wide receivers, showing off his impressive football IQ.

For most quarterbacks, their sophomore season can be one where they struggle. Obviously Winston did not get that memo, as he is kicking off his 2016 campaign in style. He lost a bunch of weight heading into the year, and looks very much like a guy who is going to continue to produce at the NFL level.
