Ravens’ wide receiver Breshad Perriman makes first career catch count (video)

The Baltimore Ravens had to wait to get a contribution from wide receiver Breshad Perriman, but he proved to be worth the delay on his first NFL reception.

The Baltimore Ravens moved to add a playmaker in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft, taking wide receiver Breshad Perriman with the 26th overall pick. But a knee injury sidelined the Central Florida product for his entire rookie season, and this year started off poorly with a training camp injury to the other knee.

Perriman was able to play in Baltimore’s final preseason game though, and he is making his long-awaited regular season debut Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. Based on his first NFL catch, the Ravens will be glad to have Perriman in the fold from here on out.

Perriman, who is listed a 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, physically over-powered Bills’ cornerback Stephon Gilmore a dramatic ball-spin afterward. Gilmore is no slouch himself, at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, and boasted great coverage along the sideline. But there was nothing he could do to keep Perriman’s athleticism at bay.

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco is a noteably proficient deep-ball thrower, so he should be looking for Perriman downfield quite often. Being able to be less than perfect on those kind of throws, with faith the Perriman will win the 50-50 battle for the ball more often than not, is surely something Flacco will love. To say nothing of the added juice a now-healthy Perriman can add to Baltimore’s passing game.
