Trevor Siemian expected to start for Denver Broncos vs. Chargers
Trevor Siemian missed last Sunday’s game with a shoulder issue, but he’s on track to play Thursday night.
The Denver Broncos dropped their first game of the season last Sunday to the Atlanta Falcons, as rookie quarterback Paxton Lynch struggled in his first NFL start. Trevor Siemian missed the game with a left shoulder injury, but there were immediate indications he would return for Week 6 against the San Diego Chargers.
No less an authority than Siemian himself said he expects to play Thursday night.

Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak had a health concern after Sunday’s game, and he will miss Thursday night’s game. Interim head coach Joe DeCamillis said Siemian would officially be listed as limited in Tuesday’s practice, while pointing to a “collective decision” to be made regarding Siemian’s status.
Siemian suffered a bruised AC joint in his non-throwing shoulder late in the first half of Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which opened the door for Lynch to make his pro debut. Siemian was then limited in practice for most of last week before being held out of last Sunday’s game. The injury not being to his throwing shoulder surely helps bring a quick return, but a reduction in swelling and pain also seems likely.

Siemian seems sure to draw a questionable tag on Wednesday’s final injury report, if only to maintain some level of mystery to counteract his public optimism. But that does not quite mean what it used to, with the elimination of the probable designation, and it would be surprising if Siemian is not starting against the Chargers. If he were to sit out again Thursday night, Lynch would get another start against a team the Broncos should easily handle.
