P.K. Subban scored his first goal in a Predators uniform against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Montreal Canadiens defenseman Shea Weber got an assist in his first game with the Canadiens. Naturally, it didn’t take long for P.K. Subban, who was traded for Weber in the offseason, to make an impact in Music City.

The new Nashville Predators defenseman scored his first goal in gold on a power play against the Chicago Blackhawks.

With Weber, the Nashville Predators had a predictable but efficient power play. It ran through Weber, for better or for worse. Considering how deadly Weber’s slap shot is, that’s quite justifiable.

However, with Subban instead of Weber, the Predators’ power play looks a bit more unpredictable and difficult to stop. Subban’s goal came off a beautiful slap shot after some nice puck movement.

Naturally, Subban celebrated in his typical fashion. While such celebrations were frowned upon in Montreal, Subban fits right in with the city of Nashville with his fun celebrations. Expectations are high for Subban with the Predators, but Subban tends to thrive when expectations are the highest.

The Subban for Weber trade is one which will affect both the Predators and the Canadiens. It completely changed both teams’ identities. Both defensemen are off to a very strong start with their new teams, as expected. With Subban, the Predators will likely be serious Stanley Cup contenders.

For what it’s worth, the Predators started off the game with Subban and Roman Josi as their defensemen. That should be a very efficient pairing when they can run it. It will be interesting to see how often they can play together. They are both deadly defensemen, but ideally, it is smart to split up two elite defensemen. However, Josi and Subban could easily do damage together.
