Despite a remote chance he would return to action, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is inactive for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers.

One of the marquee matchups on the NFL’s Week 6 schedule is slated for a 4:25 ET start on Sunday, as the Dallas Cowboys will take on the Green Bay Packers. But one of the marquee players on Dallas’ side will not play, as wide receiver Dez Bryant will miss another game with a knee injury.

Bryant will miss his third straight game with what has been diagnosed as a bone bruise, but the Cowboys are clearly not taking any chances with their No. 1 wide receiver. A rush back to action from a foot injury last season and a clearly hampered Bryant when he was in uniform  seems to be informing that caution, and Dallas has a bye in Week 7.

Bryant has one 100-yard game (seven catches for 102 yards against the Washington Redskins in Week 2) in the three games he has played this season, but he has mostly struggled to get on the same page with rookie quarterback Dak Prescott with just four catches for 48 yards in his other two games.

Bryant might be the one Cowboy secretly clamoring for Tony Romo to get back under center when he’s healthy, and there’s a chance both return to action when the team takes the field in Week 8.
